Register now for Crossroads 2024

Registrations are now open for Crossroads 2024, a two-day athlete forum to support New Zealand Olympians and Paralympians as they transition between and from pinnacle event campaigns.

Kiwi Olympic legend Barbara Kendall (pictured) will be keynote speaker at the event hosted by HPSNZ’s Performance Life team in Auckland. The forum will include guest speakers, active workshops and a careers expo.

“We know from experience that the time following the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a time of decision making and transition for the athletes involved,” says HPSNZ Head of Performance Life Christine Arthur.

“Whether athletes are considering another pinnacle event campaign, a break from high performance sport or a change of career, Crossroads aims to provide them with the tools to help them with their decisions.

In addition, one of the things athletes have valued most highly from previous Crossroads events has been the opportunity to connect with fellow athletes who are also in a time of transition.

Hockey athlete Leon Hayward rated the 2021 Crossroads event as “the best event for athlete support I’ve been to in my life…a must for all (eligible) athletes”.

Trampolinist Dylan Schmidt also attended in 2021 and said “Crossroads was a great opportunity to connect with other athletes…There were some good discussions in the breakout groups around decision making and the crossroads ahead and I really enjoyed hearing other people’s thoughts”.

Crossroads is open to all TAPS athletes with a maximum of 60 places available.

Crossroads 2024 will be held on 6 and 7 November at the Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre.

Attendance is free of charge for eligible athletes. HPSNZ will cover the cost of accommodation (for those based out of Auckland) and all food costs over the two days.
